Ramanagara:

Five learners of an engineering university, such as 3 gals, drowned at the confluence of the Cauvery river at Mekedatu in Kanakapura Taluk of the district, police mentioned on Monday.

The victims ended up among the 12 pupils who had arrive listed here from Bengaluru, Satanur police reported.

When they were being swimming, they were being caught in a whirlpool and drowned.

The victims have been recognized as Harshita (20), Abhishek (20), Tejas (21), Varsha (20) and Neha (19).

The remaining seven pupils fled just after their close friends drowned.
